We have gophers that dig up the lawn and eat the flowers. They are really cute, but I hate what they do to the backyard, and I know they carry rabies. We have dogs who don’t seem to pay any attention to them at all. We’ve tried running water into the holes (lots of water) and we didn’t have any decent results.

here kitty kitty kitty, I used to have a problem w/chipmonks til a stray cat started hanging around.
We drove these metal stakes in the ground all over our yard for a week or two. They cause vibrations that the gophers cant stand. THey moved and never came back
The gophers are there eating grubs and such that are living underground in your yard. The best way of getting rid of the gophers is to get rid of their food source. There are many poisons on the market that will kill the little buggies, and when this is done the gophers will leave.
Always pay close attention to the instructions onthe poisons as for a short period of time they can be harmful to your pets.
Buy some gopher bait (poison) and follow the directions. Your dogs will not be harmed as long as you follow the directions.
Did you watch Caddie Shack?
A couple ideas
try filling in the holes with dirt.
Put moth balls 1 or 2 at each corner of garden.
