The only thing I've heard that works well are the traps that that shoot the spikes into the ground.....I have heard to stay from the poisoned peanuts because moles are carnivorous - and dont like peanuts... good luck I like the dog idea….our bloodhound used to catch them all the time. Moles constantly burrow working up to 18 hours a day. They live where the soil has lots of nutrients (a well-fertilized lawn) and there are plenty of earthworms to eat. They can sniff an earthworm through three inches of clay. They are most evident in the spring and fall when the soil is moist and full of grubs and worms. As for getting rid of them, I agree with the person that said get a cat that's a good hunter. You might trap one or kill it, but before long another mole will take its place using the same canals. Try putting grub control on your lawn in the spring or early summer to reduce their food source. Their bodies don't store energy so they have to eat every 6 hours or they starve. Daffodil bulbs are known to be poisonous to moles. They burrow right up to them and start chewing away. Depending on how many you plant ,it may take a couple years for the bulb clusters to become thick enough, but be patient, it's an inexpensive and effective method. They're too smart for traps, but they LOVE daffodil bulbs. Plant daffodils around the perimeter of your yard.
