Take an old rag, douse it with olive oil. stuff the rag into their holes… Moles hate the smell of olive oil….You probably won’t see them again!

EDIT( As for the Liqui-fence, it is a great product, but smells HORRIBLE!

And the best grub preventative is the mach 2, not milky spore)

The number one mistake in mole eradication, is to think that moles SOLELY eat grubs. This is wrong! Moles eat grubs, as well as earthworms. While you may control your grubs with granular products like Grubex, Merit, Mach II that contain the chemicals halofenozide, permetherin. These products are a PREVENTATIVE. A grub remedy is Dylox. This is typically a liquid product that has been soaked into tea leaves, to make it a spreader applied product.

BUT, getting rid of grubs is not the answer as moles also eat earthworms, and NO chemical company makes a product that targets earthworms. So you are only in fact, getting rid of half of the moles food supply.

You are also at greater risk if your property borders open field, empty lots, wooded areas, and abandon properties.

There has been success with Juicyfruit gum(they choke on it), Castor bean plants(the roots are poisonous), trapping, flooding, poisoning, and the like. Some dogs, such as, Bassets and Rat Terriers may be scent trained to find them, dig them up, and kill them.

The best way to control moles is to contact your local county extension office for the Dept. of Agriculture, and they will be able to inform you of the location specific remedies, traps, and local pest services that will best suite your needs.

Another thing I have personally done is too simply hang out in the yard and wait for movement in the tunnels( simply spotted by the ground moving) grabbing your handy shovel and digging them up. They are rarely deeper than 6 inches, and the shovel is more than adequate to dispatch a moles.

Castor oil sprays seem to work. Liquid Fence is one brand. Or just regular castor oil in a sprayer.

And do get rid of the grubs if you have them. Just not a good thing to have on your roots. Milky Spore is the proper treatment.
