I grew up on my uncle`s farm. Now my uncle would regularly shoot crows and hang them from the trees in order to keep other crows away,he keeps livestock mainly sheep. Now i could just about accept this works but he then had a problem with moles which he trapped ,killed and then hung from a tree twenty foot up.Gotta say i was a bit sceptical about the use of this as a mole deterrant.Any views. And no,i promise i`m not making this up.

I have never even heard of that before…I don’t see any way in the world it could help.
he sounds like a cruel man, hanging crows and moles for the fun of it!
Its ok , dont panic Farmgirl here . We have major problems with moles here on our farm , and we have to hire a mole man to trap and kill them , i know i know but they are pests . anyway , the mole man hangs them up to prove to the farmer how many he has caught ( on the fence usually) , so its not to keep the moles away lol , its so he gets paid . we dont like them hung up here , we just trust the mole man , otherwise they start to smell bad ewwwww

I can understand why hanging a dead crow in a tree might keep other crows away because crows (birds in general) are highly intelligent and seeing their flock mates hanging in a tree would/could represent death, danger and a possible predator.
On the other hand, since moles are not so intelligent and are not tree dwelling…..well their peers would not likely see their fellow moles dangling from a tree anyway.
Why would your uncle want to keep crows away from a herd of sheep? Crows are not a predatory species and would not harm iving sheep. A cornfield would be more of an invitation to a crow.
