Yep! You're cat did it. She is giving it to you as a gift. I have known a lot of cats to do that. I remember one who would catch a bird, eat it and then always leave the heart at the front door for her mummy. And my sister's cat is always leaving mice and birds all through the house for her. Sometimes on a nightly basis. Yukky I know. But it's just their way of saying "Thanks!"

it's a present for you. two of my three cats leave dead mice that they catch in the bathroom every once in a while, and i still give them treats and such for this. Next time you go fishing or something on that order when you clean it cut and cook a small cat portion for it and it might thank you for the gift.

Yes...and it was gross, we also had a barn cat that brought back a deer leg (obviously not her kill)! Cats will bring back their prey for you for a few reasons, mainly because they love you and it's their version of a present but also if they think you are a poor hunter and want to provide for you. Congrats, and give your cat an extra treat for me...squirrels are just rats with cute outfits.

Welcome to the wonderful world of cats! I guess you've gathered that 'she loves you', by now, lol. I think they also do it because they are very proud of themselves and they also want to 'keep' it. She worked very hard to kill that squirrel and she wasn't about to just leave it behind.

They are really incredible predators and are perfectly designed, People are always amazed that I'm a man and care so much about cats, since they tend to be classified as a woman's pet. But, I see nothing 'girly' about cats. Who else but a man would bring a 'kill' home to show it off? If she could, she's have it stuffed and mount it on your wall. Just like a guy.
