Many different methods can be used for bedbug extermination. Exposing infested furniture under the heat of the sun has been an effective and time-tested method. First, you must scrub the surface of the infested furniture. To further dislodge the bedbugs and eggs, vacuuming the infested furniture is also done. In discarding the used vacuum bag, you must remember to seal this inside a plastic bag. This will contain the bedbugs and eggs in that place.
Steam cleaning is also another effective method for bedbug extermination. If you choose to do this, just be sure that the surface of the furniture will not be destroyed by steam cleaning.
Another natural method is the use of diatomaceous soil. This is composed of single-celled algae. The soil particles have jagged edges which can kill bedbugs. Leave the soil around the infested areas for a few days. To remove the soil and the dead bedbugs, vacuuming is done. Remember to discard the vacuum bag properly by sealing it inside a plastic bag. You need not worry about the soil particles harming you or any animal because these are too small.
Of course, bedbug insecticides can be used. Whenever you use insecticides, you have to read the product label and instructions first. Correctly follow the instructions for application and remember that insecticides should be handled with care. Use of bedbug insecticides is also effective in bedbug extermination.
If the bedbugs can only be found in the mattress, you can use a mattress cover to kill the bedbugs. Mattress covers can be either fabric or vinyl. These have zippers along the sides which enables you to seal the mattress inside. Bedbugs will now be confined inside the mattress.
Bedbugs can no longer bite you thereby starving them to death! In at least 6 months, the bedbugs in your mattress will be dead.
Use any of these methods for bedbug extermination. And you wont need to call an exterminator after all!
