How do you get rid pf a woodpecker?

April 27th, 2009
Mamma M asked:

I have a woodpecker on my house, he’s been there for a few days, and I can’t get rid of him. He annoys the hell out of the family. When we open the doors he leaves, but the next morning he’s back! Any suggestions would be great. I just want to wake up one morning and not have him pecking our roof. Plus I don’t know if he’s doing any damage to the house. Any suggestions?

What is the best way to repair woodpecker damage to redwood siding?

April 26th, 2009
Linda T asked:

We are getting ready to put a solid stain on our redwood siding. We have about 20 holes in the siding caused by woodpeckers. Some of the holes are quite large and involve both the upper and lower siding, making it pretty much impossible to replace the affected siding. What is the best way to repair the holes?
I might add that most of the holes go completely through the siding and into the insulation.

Have you ever had a woodpecker peck on a metal part of your home and did it do any damage?

fifty asked:

This morning, I woke up to jackhammering which was occurring right above my bedroom on one of those metal vent pipes that extend from the roof.

Usually this woodpecker pokes holes in my wood siding.

So, I am wondering if I am lucky that he has elected to attack metal or will I end up having to pay for a costly repair?
