Vespera Carlin asked:

i love my cat to death and i’d never change her. i’ve had her for 6 years and she’s 7 years old. she’s well trained around people and she’s spayed. she has really long nails but she has never hissed at anyone and she doesn’t bite. she used to kill rodents from mice to moles but we moved from the country to virginia so she doesn’t go outside hunting at all.

i plan on getting a baby ferret in 6 months or less and i’ve been researching about them for at least a year now. i noticed they are really difficult to take care of but what im worried about is my cat getting along with it. my brother plans on getting a dog too, but i’ll discuss that later. my cat loves being the boss of the house but doesn’t show that sassy attitude like other cats. i have serious doubts that my 7 year old cat will get along with a baby or young ferret (under 5 weeks) what should i do to ensure that they don’t hurt eachother? should i cut my cat’s nails? do ferrets have nails that i should cut?
i’ll be very busy in and out of the house. i’ll keep the ferret in my room but i’ll be spending alot of time in another room, and at school. i read ferrets can adjust to my schedule, but im worried that i wont have enough time to let it bond with my cat. im really jealous of the people who’s cats and ferrets love eachother because they were brought up together. what should i do to help my ferret and cat get along?
sorry for all the details. my brother plans on getting a dog (either a large one like a retriever, a collie, or small chiuahua) and i read that dogs get along wit ferrets. since the dog and ferret will be young pets, should i have to worry about their saftey aroudn eachother? and what should i do to make sure all the pets get along? thank u soo much for the help this means alot to me. and again sorry for all the details
