Boating safety is key to making each trip a positive one and preventing injuries. No drugs should be used, and safety gear must always be present and accessible. Constant monitoring of the weather is also necessary, as is informing someone of the destination of a trip. Do not overload boats and always respect to any rules or regulations that apply.

There should never be any drugs or alcohol used before or while operating a boat. The effects of alcohol become stronger with sun exposure, glare, noise, vibration, and wind experienced while on board. In fact, in 2008, of all reported boating deaths thirty-five percent were related to drugs or alcohol. Twenty percent of accidents had similar causes as well.

The correct safety equipment needs to be on board always and routinely maintained. Every individual should wear a life jacket that correctly fits. Fire extinguishers are crucial for safety, particularly in boats that have closing compartments or any false doors. Always check that it is charged and within easy access.

Boat lights should be regularly checked and extra batteries kept at hand just in case. Emergency supply kits are also key and should have flares, floating pouches, maps, and a first aid kit. Look over the anchor and double check that someone knows how it is properly used. If done incorrectly, the anchoring process can lead to fatalities.

Problems may be caused by unfriendly weather. For this reason, a close eye should always be kept on the weather. Make sure there is radio access to warn of any incoming problems. Danger signs include shifts in the winds, flashes of lightning, and rough water. When bad weather is known to be coming, get off the water as soon as possible. Doing so will also minimize the time spent waiting in line for other water craft. There is also a risk, if water is very cold, of catching hypothermia.

In case of unforeseen circumstances, always notify someone of the destination of a trip and the planned time of return. After refueling and before departing open all hatches. Smell for the presence of fumes before the engine is started. If there are fumes present the engine must not be turned on.

Research the destination location for regulations that will be enforced. There may be additional requirements that are not necessary at the site of departure. Always maintain current registration and have the sticker for the correct year displayed.

Never overload boats. Its listed maximum capacity should never be exceeded. After loading, make sure launching is done as smoothly as possible. All covers and straps should be removed before getting in line. Equipment should be inside before reaching the ramp. Double check the gear to make sure it works correctly and is plugged in. Have someone on the pier holding the line and helping with boat handling while waiting in line for a launch.

Boating safety is critical for all on board. Examples of this include not doing drugs, having the correct equipment, and monitoring the weather. Every rule and regulation must be followed always and boats should never be overloaded past their capacity.

Some areas of the world require a pleasure craft operator card when operating a motor powered, marine, vehicle. All owners of recreational watercraft must have the card to be able to get into the water. The size of the craft does not matter. It can be something as small as a one man vehicle. If it is being used for recreation, the card is needed.

The operator card basically shows that the carrier of it is competent to be at sea. They show that they are knowledgeable in certain situations and able to act accordingly. It also shows the holder is educated in nautical terms. Specific nautical terms are the areas of your own boat and directions. Starboard, abaft, the beam, and draft are a few of these must now terms and definitions.

There are many rules and regulations that must be known, and followed. You need to know what to do in case of collision, speed limits of areas, specific operations, and restrictions. Knowing the speed limits and following them will keep you and your passengers safe. You must be aware, and abide by, specific restrictions. These restrictions are in your, and other boaters, best interests. Collisions can and do happen, knowing the correct way to act in the event of one is a must.

You must be able to recognize specific sailing rules. The knowledge of knowing when to move with caution and when to just stay out of the way is important.Following these rules can save you from a disastrous collision. You also have to know what to do when visibility is low. All boats must be equipped with special lights of multiple colors that pierce through the low visibility conditions. These lights allow others on the water to physically see you to avoid a collision.

The card shows that the owner of it is able to perform appropriate safety measures. Before taking your voyage on the sea, make sure someone on land knows where you are going. Inform a friend, or family member, on your plans for your trip. Make sure they know when you should be returning and the routes you will be taking. This may save your life in the event that you are stranded at sea and your equipment fails.

Education in safety equipment and how to properly use them is also required. There is a proper and specific way to effectively use each item. Other safety knowledge like what to do in the event of a man overboard, your boat starts to sink, or your engine dies, is also expected.

The operator should know how to effectively navigate by the use of buoy location. The ability to understand weather reports, how to sail in the conditions of the weather, and recognizing warning signs are important. Bad weather can sink your boat and cause harm to yourself and your passengers. Keep everyone safe by being educated in weather awareness.

A pleasure craft operator card is a good thing for everyone to have. It will ensure that all boaters around you are as aware, and educated, as you are. This helps to keep everyone safe, and ensures a pleasant trip at sea.

Taking the boat on Lake Ontario this weekend? Don’t get caught without an Ontario boat licence. Take time today to complete a boating course, you can take the test online and have a pcoc today.

Poll: Whats the best way to kill mice?

I saw a little mouse yesterday and I want to get rid of them.

Thank You.
Ive tried the sticky things.
I dont want to actually kill them, just make them go away.

A simple old-fashioned, spring-loaded mousetrap with peanut butter as bait has given me the best results. They’re cheap and they kill instantly and effectively. The mouse never knows what hit him. I use the plastic Victor brand. Poisons cause mice and other small animals to crawl into ceilings and other hard-to-get-to places to die, where they decompose, causing a foul odor.

Put the trap where you think the mouse might be entering, or else along a path where you have seen it run, or have seen droppings. This also works well for rats.

If you’re not into killing, there is a small plastic trap which you can stick bait in and it sits on a pivoting point. As soon as the mouse crawls in, the trap pivots the opposite way causing a trap door to shut. Then you can release it somewhere far, far away. These were used at a place I used to work and were pretty effective.

Teens whats the best way to kill or catch mice?

i got a mouse in my house right now, whats the best way to kill or catch it?

you can buy traps that dont kill it. They look like slightly bent black tubes. You put food at one and nd when it crawls in, the change in weight makes the door shut. Also, you can buy powder that just leave in a bowl in your house and i gives off a smell thats fine for us but rats and mice hate, so they leave. You can buy a device that plugs in to a socket and gives off a sound that we cant hear, but they can and they hate it, so leave. Dont lay traps that kill the creatures, that makes you a murderer, plus could yu really dispose of the body afterwards without feeling guilty? Dont have that on your conscience, theyre basically just unwanted hamsters!
