Linda T asked:
We are getting ready to put a solid stain on our redwood siding. We have about 20 holes in the siding caused by woodpeckers. Some of the holes are quite large and involve both the upper and lower siding, making it pretty much impossible to replace the affected siding. What is the best way to repair the holes?
I might add that most of the holes go completely through the siding and into the insulation.

fifty asked: This morning, I woke up to jackhammering which was occurring right above my bedroom on one of those metal vent pipes that extend from the roof.
Usually this woodpecker pokes holes in my wood siding.
So, I am wondering if I am lucky that he has elected to attack metal or will I end up having to pay for a costly repair?

I have 2 holes out back in a bank in my yard and its near a road. How can they be relocated? And is it safe to move them this time of year or are they laying eggs ?

Around chicken coop in yard, these seemingly harmless holes have been appearing. Not gophers, had last year with those conical mounds. Not garden snakes either. Fills with water with seemingly no bottom. Can’t even guess what they could be from. No other possibilities we can think of. Maybe skunks? Digging whatever? Hell, we’re buffaloed!! Any ideas out there??

We bought a house where the lawn wasn’t mowed for about 3 years. After finally getting it down, I discovered we have pocket gophers. I tried a couple of the commercial baits down the holes and even Juicy Fruit gum. Nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any ideas for me. Thanks!

sadie asked:
We have gophers that dig up the lawn and eat the flowers. They are really cute, but I hate what they do to the backyard, and I know they carry rabies. We have dogs who don’t seem to pay any attention to them at all. We’ve tried running water into the holes (lots of water) and we didn’t have any decent results.

Questioning asked:
we live in a new development and there is construction still going on in the area. Also, there is a farm across the street. With that, and the construction, our little development has developed a gopher problem. We have landscaped our backyard, but the gophers are eating all of our plants! (and putting holes in our less then 2 year old lawn) What can I replant in the spring that will look pretty but not be attractiveto the gophers? Short of firebombing our yards, there is no way to get rid of them since the farm will always be across the street. Help!!

Amanda asked:
How do you get rid of a gopher without killing it? It’s not doing much damage to the grass but my dog is trying to dig to it so there’s holes all over the lawn. This is a pretty brave gopher. I really don’t feel right killing it just because of grass, so no death traps/poison/anything else that will end its life.
