What You Need To Know About Virtual Surround Sound Systems

August 10th, 2009

These days, home theaters are making an appearance into more and more homes. What most people love about home theaters is the fact that in one area they can enjoy their movies and television shows as well as jam to their tunes on their stereo. Most people who are seeking to buy home theater components look to purchase the biggest speakers they can find in order to reproduce the enveloping wall of sound that accompanies it. However, with the larger size comes the larger price and that tends to be the first limiting factor in the quest to purchase home theater components. However, virtual surround sound systems are here to the rescue!

One big consideration you will need to address is the size of the room which you are planning to place the home theater in. An extremely large television or speaker system will not allow much room for your guests to sit comfortably in a small room. For this reason, you will want to scale down your speakers if you are going to place the home theater system in a small room.

If your space is limited, all is not lost. Technology has advanced to the point where speakers are not only smaller but can be used wirelessly.

Another technological advance is one of virtual surround sound. This technology simulates the sound characteristics of true surround sound systems. Virtual surround sound systems basically come in two flavors that are not too different from each other. These two are the 2.1 surround system and the digital sound projection system.

Traditional surround sound systems are typically displayed using 5 speakers. These speakers start with a center speaker which is placed directly in front of the audience. The other 4 speakers are then arranged in a circle that literally surrounds the audience. These traditional surround speakersd are usually denoted as 5.1 and 7.1 sound systems. With virtual surround sound, at least 2 of the speakers are replaced. Digital sound projectors utilize small speakers that are placed in a line in front of the audience. The 2.1 system places only 2 speakers in front of the audience with a third, the subwoofer, placed elsewhere in the room.

Trickery is the name of the game with virtual surround sound systems. These systems use a profound knowledge of how humans process sound in the ear and how that signal is transmitted to the brain. The speakers are constructed in such a way as to produce a sound that tricks the brain into thinking there are more speakers than there are and that these speakers are literally surrounding the audience.

With the invention of virtual surround sound, those people living in small apartments in major cities can also enjoy the same type of entertainment as those who live in single family homes in the suburbs.

Wedding Flowers – FTD Florist Lilies, A Great Choice

August 7th, 2009

Some of the most popular wedding flowers have limitations many couples are unaware of. To help save you some time and to make choosing your wedding flowers easier I’ve given some of the seasons, drawbacks, and benefits of some popular wedding flowers – lilies – in the following paragraphs.

Calla lilies, also known as arum lilies are available all year round but experience great fluctuations in price. They are somewhat vulnerable to bruising and this can be especially noticeable on the white varieties. Callas are sensitive to cold temperatures and can get frost damaged easily. They can tolerate heat very well and retain their moisture well even without a water source. This makes them ideal for use in wedding bridal bouquets wherein they may be required to last out of water for some time. The miniature calla varieties make great boutonnieres because they are not harmed by body heat or lack of water.

The tops of the calla lily’s blooms don’t take up so much surface area so you can expect to use a lot of calla lilies in a round, all calla lilies bouquet. Calla lilies can fill much more space when used as to expose the length of the bloom rather than just the top such as in the train of a cascading bouquet or in the length of an arm bouquet.

Casablanca lilies are available all year long. They have large, flat blooms, which take up quite a bit of surface area and can really fill out a bouquet. Casablanca lilies are also vulnerable to bruising but do not bruise as easily as callas. Some people delight in the Casablanca lily’s strong aroma, but others are allergic to it.

Casablanca lilies are more resistant to very cold temperatures than callas but more prone to wilt from high temperatures or from lack of water. Their large bloom size makes them great for decorating the wedding ceremony as they are easily seen from a distance and they hold up very well when they have a water source.

Water Purifiers/Filters – Healthy Living

August 6th, 2009

If healthy nutrition is as important to you as it should be, you should be aware that drinking water is an integral part of it. If the water in your area is sub par consider some sort of filter. There are types that attach to your faucet or are part of a pitcher. Drinking clean water can’t be stressed enough as key to your health and well-being.

Water is Good for You

Doctors suggest that you drink a minimum of eight cups of water daily, more than this if you are doing physical activities and perspiring. Drinking water assists with removing toxins from your body and you will feel more well. People can live without eating for a few days, but they won’t be alright more than a day without water because it is vital. What else do you need to know to consider having water purifiers/filters for your residence?

Every one at home drinks a lot of coffee and too many sodas partially because its easy and tastes great. By having water filters/purifiers installed in your own house, you can make sure that you get purified tasty water in almost no cost. Be a role play for your kids and help them develop a good habit of drinking plenty of water.

Why Filtered Water is Best

There is no reason why you can’t drink water straight from the faucet in most cases. However the source may result in having a less than palatable taste or in the case of well water, an influx of toxins from the soil somewhere in the vicinity. Your best bet is to get a water purifier or filter which will make your drinking water safe and inviting to drink.

Tap water levels are closely monitored annually, however it still can contain contaminants. To avoid concerns about toxins it is in your best interest to consider a water filter/purifier so that you can get back to enjoying your drinking water.

Better Than Bottled Water

Many people take bottled water these days, but it is expensive. You can reuse some nice thermos shaped bottles and you can save a lot of money by refilling them up from filters at home and it would cost you not more then few pennies. Every one at home is going to enjoy their own bottle from the variety of cool water bottles available.

And even more importantly, the water from water purifiers/filters is cleaner and better for you than bottled water. Bottled water is only held to the same standards as city water and those are not always so high. In fact, in several studies popular brands of bottled water were found to have more contaminants than New York City tap water. So water from water purifiers/filters in the home is clearly the winner.
